When can my child register for classes?

We start new classes in September of each year but we always welcome new dancers with year round enrollment. Please contact us for more information.

How many days a week will my child dance?

Time commitment is dependent on your dancer’s level of progress.  Typically young children new to highland dance attend one class per week. As your dancer advances, the teachers will inform you of opportunities for additional classes.

What should my child wear to class?

Attire: Dancers must attend class in comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. Fitted T-shirts and shorts or bodysuits are required, this allows the teacher to correct intricate technique. No denim, long pants, or loose fitting clothes, thank you.

Footwear: New beginners may participate in their barefeet for their first classes. If dancers already have footwear from other dance classes (such as ballet or jazz) we encourage them to bring these shoes. If your new dancer does not have highland shoes, please do not purchase a pair before his/her first class, we’re happy to help you find the best fit once you get started. Additionally, used  shoes may be available depending on our current inventory.

Can parents stay and watch the class?

In order for us to achieve the most improvement, we ask that parents and siblings not stay at class due to the distracting nature. There will be opportunities throughout the year for you to see everything that your dancer has learned.
